How To Make Money Blogging For Beginners And So Much More

Make Money Blogging For BeginnersI was able to get paid blogging within 2 and a half months of starting online and I hadn’t even put my mind to it. Not completely at least. Today I’ll be relating my story, and in so doing I’ll be revealing first hand information on how it can be done. A personal guide on how to make money blogging for beginners and a lot more.

The First Steps – Getting Started

In order to get paid for blogging you don’t have to own a website but you’re going to want one. There’s two very plain reasons why. I’ll explain!

  1. It’ll be incredibly more difficult to land a decent paying client without one. The only work likely to be available will pay so little an amount that it will be nothing short of discouraging.
  2. Your website will be your home. It’ll be your portfolio to show clients exactly the quality of work you do. It’s also going to do a lot more which I’ll get to in a minute.Make Money Blogging For Beginners

My experience in conversation with others about starting a website before getting paid to blog has been interesting. When I redirect them away from paid blogging they usually turn pale. The talk has turned from paid blogging to working hard for free. Or worse! Spending money to work hard.

Let’s Be Honest! It Does Cost Money To Start And Own A website. It Doesn’t Have To Cost Much.

The way I see it, there’s two ways to go about being a website owner. You can pay a lot of money to have other people do it for you. You also run a much higher risk of getting scammed by one of the many online sites that simply can’t live up to what they offer. Or, you can join a highly reputable company that offers everything you need.Make Money Blogging For Beginners

If you can afford to buy a website that’s already been developed or have someone do it for you, by all means go for it. I recently met with a client who did exactly that. He bought a website for an undisclosed amount (I didn’t feel it was proper to ask how much). At the time he bought it in October of 2015, it was getting 15,000 visits a month. As I write this article in June of 2016 he has doubled his traffic to 30,000 visits a month.

If you can’t afford to buy a website (a category many of us fall into, myself included) there is an incredibly reasonable way to do what I described above. Within 2 and a half months of starting my website I landed my first writing job. I was able to accomplish this working my main job and taking care of my 10 and 8 year old boys.

Hot Topics To Make Money Blogging For Beginners To Consider!Make Money Blogging For Beginners

This is the best part of all for any beginning blogger to learn. The topics you can write about are endless. In fact, it’s always better to blog in an area you’re familiar with. That way you can’t help coming across as genuine and well informed. You’ll also find that you get paid better when you’re writing in your area of authority.

In marketing terms this is called a “niche”. It’s basically the area of information you’ll be covering. From health and fitness, to dietary information, to home appliances, or golf clubs, you write about what you know and love. The possibilities here are quite endless because everything can be found (and is searched for) on the web.

The Completed Portfolio – Pitching The Client

Once you’ve built out your site a bit, you’ll surely have 4 or 5 articles that really stand out. Ones you’re Make Money Blogging For Beginnersespecially proud of. These will be used to present as a portfolio to potential clients. Clients who own their own sites are willing to pay top dollar for just such articles. They don’t want people writing on their sites unless they have personal experience in the subject matter.

Because of this truth you will find work. Whether it’s obtained through websites that bring bloggers and clients together, from contacts on social media, or from emails of your portfolio to potential site owners, you will make money. I started at $2.50 per 100 words which comes out to about $25.00 for a 1000 word article. I’m able to write enough to easily cover the small cost of running my website and more experienced bloggers make much, much more.Make Money Blogging For Beginners

I’m also developing relationships with successful website owners which always helps in the world of online marketing. When you provide a quality service that helps site owners increase earnings you will be rewarded for it. Remember to put your best work forward when you contact a prospective client. Have confidence and be reassuring about the quality of work you provide.

The short term benefits of my guide “Make Money Blogging For Beginners” is the cash you’ll make once you start landing jobs. For the serious beginner this can be done in much less than the 2 and a half months it took me. I hadn’t even considered blogging until this point. I was working solely on my website until the thought occurred to me to look for work.

Which brings me to the long term benefits! Outshining every thing I’ve written so far is the potential earnings of your own website. It takes time to gain trust after a website has been created. Google doesn’t typically put new sites on the top pages to easily be found. Once a website is built out with many blogs, the traffic will start coming. If you write high quality articles, (which again is easy to do with the training provided) you will in time reap incredible rewards.Make Money Blogging For Beginners

My earlier mention of gaining much more rests here. The long term benefits of a well developed website are highly desired. There is no ceiling when it comes to developing websites, and with good training it’s easy to do. It only takes time, and there is no deadline to follow when it comes to building out your own online business.

  1. What an excellent way to make money by writing articles for others. Did you reach out to others offering them your services or were you offered a position from a particular company, or both?

Do you know of any places that are searching for freelance writers for their company’s or what is the best way to go about searching for such companies?

    1. Hi Troy. Thanks for commenting! The short answer to your first two questions is both. The longer answer to all three of your questions is I got my start through Upwork. Upwork is a site that brings freelancers of all sorts together with clients looking for good content among other things. I may have been lucky to been hired so quickly after completing my profile, but I would have found something sooner or later anyway. What really helped was having my own website full of articles I could use as a portfolio. Especially since I didn’t yet have a client to use as a referral. Hope this answers your questions. Geoff.

  2. Hey Geoff,

I love blogging for a simple reason. It helps me express myself and my dream to create a full time income from it so I can become location independent. Your post is quite straight forward on how to start blogging for freelancers.

And I agree that most of the great freelance bloggers I know have a blog, and a great one at that. It goes without saying that it’s worth investing on your portfolio if you are serious about your business.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Cheers,

    Anh

    1. Hello Anh. Blogging is nice when I have the freedom to write about what I want to write about. Redundant I know, but I did that on purpose! Paid blogging can sometimes be a bore if I’m writing a review about something that doesn’t interest me. In the end though, it’s all good work and I find myself improving all the time. Thanks truly for your time and your words. Geoff.
